MetaMask Login Security

Essential Security Practices

  • Never Share Recovery Phrase: MetaMask will never ask for your 12-word phrase. Anyone who does is a scammer.
  • Use Strong Unique Password: Your MetaMask Login password should be different from other accounts.
  • Enable Auto-Lock: Set MetaMask to automatically lock after inactivity (Settings → Advanced → Auto-Lock).
  • Beware Phishing Sites: Always check the URL before entering your password.
  • Use Hardware Wallet: For large holdings, connect a hardware wallet for additional security.

Recognizing Login Scams

Common scams targeting MetaMask Login:

  • Fake browser extensions mimicking MetaMask
  • Phishing emails claiming your account is compromised
  • Fake support agents asking for your recovery phrase
  • Malicious websites requesting your password

Critical Security Warning

Your recovery phrase is the ONLY way to restore your wallet. If someone gains access to it, they can steal all your funds. Never:

  • Store it digitally (screenshots, cloud storage, etc.)
  • Share it with anyone for any reason
  • Enter it on any website, even if it looks like MetaMask
